Member Information

Dear Members, dear Athletes, Coaches, Officials, and Presidents, dear Parents,

BC Artistic Swimming is considering a possible merger with Swim BC. These initial discussions are purely exploratory; no decisions have been made.

We felt it was important to communicate this proactively with you at an early stage to ensure transparency and to keep you informed directly as we begin this process.

As part of our responsibility to the sport and our membership, we believe it is important to carefully consider opportunities like this within the broader context of the evolving sport landscape. Nationally and provincially, we are seeing increasing emphasis on collaboration, alignment, and sustainability, as highlighted in the Future of Sport in Canada Report.

With that in mind, we have begun a due diligence process to better understand whether such a merger could be feasible and ultimately in the best interest of our athletes, clubs, and the sport as a whole. This work is being carried out in cooperation with viaSport and will be supported by an external consultant.

At this stage, our focus is on gathering information, asking the right questions, and ensuring that we have a clear understanding of the potential opportunities and challenges. We are committed to keeping you informed as this process evolves and will ensure there are appropriate opportunities for engagement.

Should this process advance to a point where a formal proposal is developed, the ultimate decision would rest with the membership through a vote at a Special Annual General Meeting.

If you have questions or thoughts, please contact us. We appreciate your dedication and welcome your input as we move forward.

On behalf of BC Artistic Swimming,
Mandy Curtis, President
Patrik Zimmermann, Executive Director
